No Village but Plenty of Opinions
I realize that motherhood is not easy. It may not come naturally. It may be joyous. It may be tumultuous. I like to give grace to the moms who did their best and maybe their children have a bit of a hard shell. I like to believe that all we can do is our best. All we can give is our best. All we have to work with are the tools & foundations & the “normals” that we have been given. Our own start has a tendency to dictate our [general] path. Not always. No free passes, but sometimes parenthood is not the hood some folks thrive in. It is OK. Sometimes I write letters to my future self to be mindful of how I feel in this time and this phase of life, to be sure I do not repeat it as an elder of what I pray is a thriving, growing, healthy, united, la-dee-frickin-da family one day.
